AquaDepth pairs original interface design with a curated, locally hosted library of freely licensed animal photographs.

01

How photographs are selected

Each photograph is checked against the profile's scientific name, downloaded from Wikimedia Commons and stored with AquaDepth rather than hotlinked. Ambiguous, non-photographic and poorly matched candidates are rejected during review.

02

Attribution travels with the image

Every image record includes the creator, Commons file page, licence, licence link and retrieval date. Cards and profiles show a compact credit, while the complete register appears below.

03

Licences we support

Public domain, CC0, CC BY and compliant CC BY-SA assets are accepted. Non-commercial, no-derivatives and unknown licences are rejected.
